The process of birth can be complex for some mums and babies; a fast birth or prolonged labour, assisted birth using forceps or ventouse (vacuum), caesarean section, all can affect baby in different ways. Also baby’s position in the uterus prior to birth can cause small abnormalities or hinder development of motor skills due to pressure on various parts of baby’s body.
Babies usually respond quickly to a Bowen treatment, it is gentle and safe. Generally only one or two short sessions are required. Babies are relaxed during a treatment and usually sleep well that night.
Bowen work on babies of all ages can be beneficial; babies may be treated in the days immediately following birth if required.
Bowen can gently treat:-
Reflux or colic,
Clicky hips, unequal hips
Neck restrictions (this is often the problem causing babies to only like to feed from one breast and not the other)
Bowen work can ease respiratory problems and make breathing easier when baby has a chest infection or croup. Bowen also eases the pain and speeds recovery of ear infections.
When baby starts to crawl or walk, most unusual movements or gait can easily and gently be addressed with some gentle Bowen work.
The gentle Bowen moves are always demonstrated on mum or dad prior to treating your baby. Babies are relaxed throughout their session, however it is best to feed baby prior to their treatment.
Most conditions can be safely and gently treated using Bowen,
